Hang on tight! This rooftop train ride will take you through some of the Central Andes ' most incredible scenery, through pretty little Andean villages where you can observe local life going about its daily tasks. Those feeling a little less adventurous will be more comfortable sitting in a more traditional position in the carriages of the train.

The journey normally starts in Riobamba at 7 a .m. but for those who prefer to rise a little later, it is possible to catch the train at numerous little villages along the way. However, in our opinion, the best of the scenery and local life is to be observed prior to the Devil's Nose section itself, a mastery of engineering that takes you through the mountains, down several switchbacks and back up to Alausí where your journey ends.
